Candidate: Lawrence Shouse

Running for: 7th District Congress

Party: Republican

Issues:

Topics that I feel are most important:
1. Military Strength
2. Education
3. Jobs
4. Healthcare
5. Foreign Aid and Environment

Education:

Education starts at home. My dad always said, "if you stop learning you stop earning." We need to give better education to our children. Everyone should be entitled to a fair and a affordable education. We also need quality teachers, smaller classrooms, and parent involvement. Testing measures should be set at high standards to ensure students are ready for real life situations. We also need to equip teachers with modern equipment and the latest technology. I would like to see a better living wage for our teachers. This as an incentive will attract good teachers to stay in the teaching profession. I also would like to see better health care. I could like to see help for teachers whom continue their own education. Help offset the cost of their cost of tuition.

Jobs:

After holding jobs in many types of companies, I feel I can best serve the community. The company types range from mom and pop to fortune 500. Some of them had teamster, food workers unions ESOP ad now union affiliated labor forces, profit and not for profit companies. I think that if anyone wants a job and is capable and qualified to work, should have a job. I have always been fortunate to work even to a point of holding down two jobs at a time on some occasion, just to pay the bills. In my opinion our country is loosing to many jobs to other countries. We as a people should try to create more jobs to replace them. We should be able crosstrain and to have the opportunity to work in other fields. We as a people must also be versatile. We must try to attract more jobs to Indiana, to replace the ones we are loosing overseas and down south as well.
